Anantnag, Sep 23 (KNO): "Law will take its own course in every matter and no one is above the law,” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary J&K (Organisation), Ashok Koul said on Tuesday, while commenting on the detention of MLA Doda, Mehraj Malik, under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Speaking to reporters here, Koul, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said: “Even National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah has himself admitted that what Mehraj Malik said against a government officer was wrong. So, what questions can the NC raise now? Law is doing its work and nobody is above it; be it the BJP or the NC.”
On the restoration of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir, the BJP leader said that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have already assured it on the floor of the Parliament. “The PM and HM have assured that the statehood will be given back very soon,” he said.
Speaking about the damages caused by recent floods in parts of J&K, Koul said the Union Territory government has conducted the necessary assessment through its revenue, agriculture, and horticulture departments. “The report will be forwarded to the Union Government. Home Minister Amit Shah has already released Rs 209 crore to the SDRF, and a comprehensive compensation package is expected very soon. Whosoever has suffered damages will be compensated,” he said.
On the issue of the upcoming assembly session, he urged the administration to take into consideration the schedule of important Hindu festivals in the coming month while finalising the dates. “Many Hindu festivals are approaching, and the government must ensure that the assembly session is scheduled accordingly,” the BJP leader said—(KNO)
